Finding inspiration in every game
Four Friends Mahjong started the way many good things do - with friendship, laughter, and a little obsession.
It began with a group of friends gathered around a Mahjong table, taking a class from Alice, a "Mahjong maven and village elder." Alice taught us the rules of the game and helped us appreciate its rich history. She modeled not just how to strategize the best hand, but perhaps more importantly, the joy of community, fun, and sharing.
After a few weeks of classes, we set on our own, fumbling through games and making bonehead mistakes, but laughing the whole time and looking forward to our weekly connection.

Here were our takeaways: 1) Host with humor and a light heart. No stressing allowed. There's no need to go to the store—serve whatever you can find in the pantry. 2) Spread the Mahjong love. Help others learn to play and invite new friends into your circle.
Have Fun. Do Good. That’s our table rule. And now, it’s our business rule, too.
About our designs
As an architect by training, I couldn’t help noticing the details: the weight of the tiles, the clutter of accessories, and the opportunity to bring a fresh, modern touch to this cherished game.​

In the early days, we scoured the internet and antique shops for the perfect Mahjong set, but nothing spoke to us. So we made our own.
What started as a few prototypes for our game nights - and lively discussions around color, ease of use, and strategic placement of magnets—quickly grew into something more. When my friends started asking for their own tiles and bags, I realized there was a community of Mahjong lovers craving the same: modern, functional, and beautiful tools for play.​​
Drawing on our diverse backgrounds—architect, IT director, teacher, and lawyer—and leaning on feedback from a vibrant circle of women with a keen eye for detail, color, and creativity, we designed tiles that speak to all the senses, in saturated hues that linger in your dreams.
Four Friends Mahjong is my way of blending my design background with my love of play. Every piece is created to make Mahjong easy, accessible, and joyful—while honoring the traditions that bring people together. Our products are a labor of love and a creative vehicle for giving back.
